But seeing as you are here, have a look around and learn what you can from my musings around life in the customer service industry, raising a family, changing careers, moving countries and all the fun along the way while climbing the ladder. Being a practical person, I decided early on to develop my skills learning on the job. I trained across all levels within the hospitality industry, working my way up to management level after which I took some time away from restaurants to charter yachts in the Caribbean. The move back home saw the start of my entrepreneurial journey in owning my first restaurant. This led to the next 11 years seeing me launch two new concepts, one take-out and one eat-in, and expand them successfully through the suburbs of my hometown while raising a family.
Well it's twofold really:
1. To share my experience, lessons learnt and guide others through business and management coaching in order for them to succeed.
2. And to hopefully meet and engage with likeminded individuals who can add to my story.
After 20 years in the hospitality industry and also working for myself, I decided to change direction and not only work for someone else, but shake it up by moving countries and changing industries. Okay to be fair it was still in the customer service industry - tourism. I learnt along the way that I was most happy helping others succeed, especially when they were looking to break out on their own, start something new or even change direction by trying a new approach.
No two people are the same, and likewise no two businesses or two families are alike, even though they follow similar 'formulas'. And so similarly, while my approach to working with an individual, business, or team may follow the same process, the outcome and journey along the way will be different and tailored as we go.
I believe in order to build strong teams within an organisation, employee engagement, motivation and good communication are key - which in turn will lead to a solid all round operational performance.
